FOREVER LEGENDS
Honour Roll

Chief De Beers
Chief De Beers won the Doomben 10,000 twice in a career that included 20 wins - all at Doomben. This was followed by a distinguished decade long career in the QLD Police Force. As an ambassador for racing with Living Legends, Chief’s community service was recognised with a Blue Cross Medal early in 2020.
Doriemus
Doriemus, winner of the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup double in 1995, ranks as one of Australia’s best stayers of recent years, and was an enormously popular horse.
Sky Heights
Sky Heights is by Zabeel from Moet Heights, which traces to the famous Heights family of Battle Heights and Mapperley Heights.
Takeover Target
He is owned and was trained by Joe Janiak, a former Queanbeyan, New South Wales taxi driver and was ridden by Sydney based jockey Jay Ford in all but two race starts.
Zipping
Zip was known as an iron horse on the racetrack and is a strong-willed horse who will not do anything he doesn’t want to do. He won the Sandown Classic, the traditional last race of the Spring Carnival on 4 occasions and in recognition of this feat the race was renamed as the Zipping Classic.
Might & Power
Might and Power (foaled 1993) was named Australian Horse of the Year in 1998 and 1999. His great victories included the 1997 Melbourne and Caulfield Cups which he won leading all the way, no other horse has achieved this feat. He won the Cox Plate in 1998 leading all the way again. He was a wonderful horse, a great ambassador for Living Legends.
Northerly
Northerly, foaled in 1996, was bred by Oakland Park Stud in Western Australia, and is arguably one of Australia’s best ever middle distance racehorses.
Sacred Kingdom
In Australia he was known as Jumbo Star. Trainer Clarry Connors bought Jumbo Star as a yearling for $200,000 at the Inglis Melbourne yearling sale on behalf of Hong Kong-based owner Sin Kang Yuk.
Super Impressive
Super Impressive was in the Victorian Mounted Police for over 10 years after his racing career finished. As a police horse, Super could handle most situations, except parading on the racetrack at Flemington where he wanted to be a racehorse again
Rogan Josh
A beautiful gentle giant standing at 17 hands high. The kindest of horses with people on our guided horse tours. Excited when he visited the racetrack mounting yard on race days or walking down Swanston Street during the Melbourne Cup Parade. Josh was one of the original nine horses at Living Legends.
Fields of Omagh
Considered unexceptional as a yearling and passed in at auction; and then unexceptional in his early racing career, with one jockey describing him as having “square wheels”. However, with patience, FOO hit his straps and became a truly exceptional racehorse, an iron horse, racing in five Cox Plates, winning two, and beating the very best horses of his time. As Living Legends foundation horse, he will be forever remembered for his strength, grace, and the joy he brought to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Better Loosen Up
Better Loosen Up has been rated as one of Australia’s top thoroughbreds over the past 25 years.
Regal Roller
Regal Roller came to Living Legends with a wonderful record on the racetrack. A homebred by the Canadian stallion Regal Classic from Arantxa Rose, the chestnut was bred and raced by the Durran family. A brave front runner on the track and a very kind horse with a gentle nature off the track.
Saintly
Paris Lane
Percy won the 1994 Caulfield Cup and was second in the Melbourne Cup that year. Percy was one of the original nine horses at Living Legends.
Rattan
Sired by the stallion Savabeel out of the dam Grand Princess. Regarded as an outstanding athlete, talented racehorse who was a very kind and gentle horse. Came to living legends to retire next to his biggest racing opponents, Beauty Generation, Beat the Clock and Mr Stunning. Will be thoroughly missed, taken to early due to colic.
