Serpentine is Irish-bred who gained international attention by winning the 2020 Epsom Derby in a stunning and unexpected fashion. He was trained by Aidan O’Brien at Ballydoyle Stables in Ireland. Under his guidance, Serpentine won the Derby in a remarkable front-running performance by seizing the lead early and maintaining his pace throughout and won by 5 and a 1/2 lengths. He was ridden by Emmet McNamara.
After relocating to Australia in 2022, Serpentine was initially trained by Rob Hickmott. He was later transferred to the care of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, where he continued his racing career.
