Horses’ Birthday Giving Day

On Saturday 1 August 2020, we’ll be celebrating 26 birthdays in one day (one for every Legend), and we’re asking for help to keep us strong. Living Legends is a unique place where unforgettable moments happen, but we’re doing it tough during the COVID-19 lockdown. On the Horses’ Birthday, for one day only, all donations will be doubled by our generous supporters.

How you can help

All donations over $2 are tax deductible, and will be matched by our partners. Simply choose a team below, and make a donation of your choice to your favourite team.

Living Legends is the home of rest for some of the world’s favourite champion racehorses, from crowd favourite Apache Cat to Melbourne Cup winner Efficient. But it’s more than a home after racing for champion thoroughbred, it’s a place where people come to experience the joy of horses firsthand. Visitors range from school groups to end-of-life bucket listers fulfilling a lifelong dream before passing away. It’s a safe place for children and adults with disabilities, where they can experience a horse one on one and develop a human-equine bond, and for sick children and elderly people who are unable to visit, we take the horses to them.

The Horses’ Birthday giving day with matched donations will help keep Living Legends strong and weather the storm of COVID-19, so that we can continue to provide life-changing experiences for people of all ages and all abilities. Last year, the Horses’ Birthday giving day raised an amazing $91,000, and in 2020 we’re hoping to achieve a total of $80,000.

What does my donation support?

Living Legends is a charitable organisation and relies on donations, sponsorship and tourism to keep going. The effect of COVID-19 restrictions has seen six months of group bookings and functions cancelled, and day-to-revenue has dropped to its lowest ever levels.

On the Horses’ Birthday, all donations on this site will be matched with funds from our partners. It’s never been more important for us to call on the support of the community, so that we can remain strong for years to come and continue creating life-changing experiences through sharing the joy of horses with people who need it most.

And if you can’t help, we do understand. It’s been a tough year for everyone.
