Importantly, all proceeds raised on the day will be donated to the Living Legends Charity.

Live. Grow. Explore. Community Day

Living Legends is thrilled to announce that it will host the 2014 Live, Grow, Explore, Community Day on March 23rd. The focus of the day will be natural environment of the northwest of Melbourne and visitors will be able to enjoy and learn more about Woodlands Homestead the home of Living Legends and the surrounding Woodlands Historic Park.  The day is a key activity within a partnership between Landcare Australia and Jemena and is also supported by Hume City Council. Other stakeholders include Conservation Volunteers Australia, Reptile Encounters, Melbourne Water, Moreland Energy Foundation, SES and CFA, St Johns Ambulance and Friends of Woodlands Park.

Activities available on the day will include meeting the Living Legends horses, walking tours of Woodlands Homestead and Gardens as well as the surrounding Parklands, Pony Rides, face painting, boomerang throwing, art and craft activities and stories and games by Landcare Fairy. There will be a free barbecue, free ice creams, free water  with Devonshire Teas on sale in the homestead.  A great all round family and community day. More details shortly.

The day will include:

  • Vasili Kanidiadis of Vasili’s Garden to Kitchen TV show.
  • FLYBZ – African hip hop band now calling Melbourne home. Their direct experiences lead them to write Child Soldier (videoclip here), produced by ARIA award-winning Jesse Hooper (Killing Heidi).
  • Future Sparks – interactive display where electricity will be powered by pedal power.
  • Reptile Encounters – wildlife up close, providing insights into local native reptiles.
  • Free bush tucker BBQ lunch and ice creams.
  • Guided nature walks.
  • Children’s activities – Landcare fairy, face painting, pony rides and boomerang throwing.
  • Young up-and-coming performers: Sudanese spoken word performer Abe Nouk and Koori didgeridoo player Brent Young, country singer Lindi Rancie, soul singer Keagan Clotheir and singer songwriter Cass Planko, as well as African dancers Zero Degrees.
