As part of the Emirates Melbourne Cup Tour, the Melbourne Cup visited Living Legends on Wednesday 31st of October, 2007. This was a very special day as it was a year ago to the day that Living Legends opened and was therefore our first birthday. It also provided the ideal opportunity to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Might and Power’s Melbourne Cup victory.

A welcoming address was given by by City of Hume Mayor Gary Jungwirth. Guests had the opportunity to take photographs with the 2007 Melbourne Cup and one of two of Fields of Omagh’s Cox Plates. There were also book signings by two authors: Helen Thomas, the author of "A Horse Called Mighty", and Kristen Manning, author of "Fields of Omagh".

Guests included many friends of Living Legends including Vince Pirrottina and his wife Rosanne. Foundation sponsors Hanging Rock Winery and Mitavite also attended the day.

Catering was provided by Kangan TAFE thanks to a sponsorship from Racing Victoria. "Living Legends has a very successful work for the dole program with Kangan TAFE, which assists with the maintenance and operations of Living Legends" stated Living Legends CEO, Dr Andrew Clarke. "I am very proud to announce that the links with Kangan TAFE had been extended and expanded to now include catering and tourism. The board of Living Legends is very grateful to all of the participants for their hard work and we look forward to building these community links and achieving a lot more together in the future".

Living Legends supporter Peter Norrish wrote of the day: "Congratulations on yesterday's celebration of the first birthday of Living Legends. It was great to be able to return, as well as a big buzz to see this year's Melbourne Cup on display ... It's fantastic news to hear that the horses will soon be vaccinated and able to receive visitors again. I look forward immensely to that day."
